gwalchmai
I installed Mint 18 (latest) on a Dell Lat 6520 (8GB, 750GB "big cache" platter) last night. Works great, very snappy, etc. This morning I downloaded VMWare Workstation Player 12.5. It comes as a bundle and installs a bunch of dependencies, then failed at the end with a corrupt file warning. Anyone run into this, or know of a site where I could get the older VMWare player? Thanks!
Animal Mother
Is it Mint 18 or 18.2? I had a friend who ran into a situation with ArchLinux and VMWare Workstation Player 12.5.2, I don't know what the Arch version was but he found it was conflict between the player and kernel 4.9. I sent him an email to find out what his fix was. As for older versions, doesn't the VMWare site still have version 7 available?
gwalchmai
It's 18.2.

gwalchmai
Thanks, AM. I'll give it a try. Right now I'm using VirtualBox to host Win10, but I'd prefer VMWare.
IndyGunFreak
I've honestly always preferred Virtualbox to VMWare Player... I guess they both work well, but if you've never tried Vbox and are not overly attached to VWP, Virtualbox is in the repos.

itisbruno
VirtualBox for me. I run a lightweight Debian derivative (Lubuntu) when I surf the web and it runs like a charm.
Duc748s
I think I have a copy of VMWare (older than 12.5) on the laptop I use to Tune and Diag on, if you still need a copy let me know and I will look for it and see if I can put it up in DropBox or something Edited July 1, 2018 by Duc748s sentence structure be hard
