Photos of a Vortex Venom Installation on an older Glock 17 (Gen 2)

Thought some of you would like to see how a Vortex Venom looks when mounted on a “normal†Glock pistol (i.e., not set-up for electronic sights). The Glock was purchased new, by me, back in 1992. I decided to try a red dot sight on the pistol and liked the Vortex Venom model a lot.

I put a plate on top, which is done via a piece inserted in the rear sight slot (need a sight-pusher for the job, IMHO). Once that was done it’s a straightforward installation.

I did use blue Loctite for all screws. Just in case.

I have around 150 rounds through the pistol over the last few days. Sights working like a charm!

The threaded barrel came from SilencerCo. $20 bucks with the purchase of one of their suppressors. A deal!! (actually, a $200 credit)

The funny looking crinkly black stuff is a rubberized material I found on Amazon to enhance gripping my slide (I think the material is intended for use on grips).

Looks good to me, have a good time, how are you finding shooting with an RDS? Slow you down much getting rounds accurately on target?

I have half a dozen Glocks and my "fun Glock" is my Glock 43 MOS with a Deltapoint Pro on it, triangle sight, I run it compensated and have Taran Tactical extensions for 17+1 45ACP capacity, etc.

Fun times.

It does slow up sight acquisition a good deal. Haven't yet gotten used to the proper grip angle to pick the red dot up immediately. Might take some time.
