“Oh my my, oh hell yes, you gotta put on that party dress.”

”I don’t know, but I’ve been told, if you don’t slow down, you never grow old.”

Closing Time by Lyle Lovett.  I lived this song for a while.

The night she is a true companion
They shuffle in
They hear the sound
But by night's end
It's night's abandon
You look across the floor
Ain't anyone around
Closing time
Unplug them people
And send them home
It's closing time
Now Kenny he's been mixing sound all evening
Sometimes I think that boy
He ain't got no ears
And Kathy's laughing
Kathy's always laughing
Well keep on laughing Kathy
Just make it out of here
Closing time
Unplug them people
And send them home
It's closing time
So stack those chairs upon those tables
And stack those empties upon that bar
And count

“There was a time, when a made stood by his word

And the simple truth was not so hard to take

When his enemies were thousands of miles away

And he stood by the promises he made”

Motorhead "I Dont Believe a Word."

I have been lost in this song many times.

Don't talk to me, I don't believe a word
Don't try to make me feel alright
All the love in all the world
Is not enough to save my soul tonight
Don't be my friend I'm not a fool
Don't talk of things that we cannot see
When all the ones that sing the blues
Sometimes I think of how it used to be

I have seen the Devil laugh
I have seen God turn his face away
I have nothing left to lose
I have nothing left to say
I have seen the sky turn black
I have seen the seas run dry
I have nothing that is yours
I have nothing now that is not mine

Don't look at me your eyes are cold & hard
Don't wonder that I turn to you
All the grief in all the world
Is not enough to make me comfort you
Don't tell me lies, I'm not a dog,
Don't talk of love it seems to me
All the people that we rob
Sometimes I think of how they used me

I have seen the fires of Hell
I have seen Angels with flaming swords
I have nothing that is mine
I have much that could be yours
I have seen the eye of God
I have heard lies that are true
I have nothing for myself
I have nothing I would give to you

Don't say that word, I know it's only fools
Who do not know their fate is just
All the justice in the world
Is not enough to buy my faith & trust
Don't make that face I won't be pleased
Don't make a sideshow of yourself
All the people we released
Sometimes I think you're someone else

I have been where none have been
In the empty howling rooms
I have everything I need
I have everything you stand to lose
I have seen the diamond worlds
I have seen the shape of space
I have nothing but the world
I have nothing to take its place
I don't believe a word, I don't believe a word ...

Bleeding Me by Metallica.

I love the line "This thorn in my side is from the tree I’ve planted"

I’m digging my way
I’m digging my way to something
I’m digging my way to something better

I’m pushing to stay
I’m pushing to stay with something
I’m pushing to stay with something better

I’m sowing the seeds
I’m sowing the seeds I’ve taken
I’m sowing the seeds I take for granted

This thorn in my side
This thorn in my side is from the tree
This thorn in my side is from the tree I’ve planted

It tears me and I bleed
And I bleed

Caught under wheels’ roll
I take the leech, I’m bleeding me
Can’t stop to save my soul
I take the leash that’s leading me
I’m bleeding me
I can’t take it
Caught under wheels’ roll
The bleeding of me
Of me
The bleeding of me

I am the beast that feeds the feast
I am the blood, I am release

Come make me pure
Bleed me a cure
I’m caught, I’m caught, I’m caught under

Caught under wheels’ roll
I take that leech, I’m bleeding me
Can’t stop to save my soul
I take the leash that’s leading me
I’m bleeding me
I can’t take it
I can’t take it
I can’t take it
The bleeding of me

I’m digging my way
I’m digging my way to something
I’m digging my way to something better

I’m pushing to stay
I’m pushing to stay with something
I’m pushing to stay with something better
With something better

Ray Wylie Hubbard, Conversation with the Devil

I had a dream last night I was cast into hell by a jealous God.
The Devil walked up and said, "You don't need no lightning rod.
It hardly ever rains down here; I can't recall the last storm.
You ain't gonna need that leather jacket, it gets kinda warm.
There's one way, there's no way out; looks like you're here to stay.
Oh, the place is a mess, it's overcrowded, more are coming everyday."

I said, "Aw, man, wait a minute, there's got to be somethin' wrong.
I ain't a bad guy, I just write these little songs.
I always pay my union dues, I don't stay in the passing lane."
And he said, "What about all that whisky and cocaine?"
I said, "Well, yeah... but that's no reason to throw me in hell.
'Cause I didn't use the cocaine to get high, I just like the way it smells."

He said, "Come on over here, son, let me show you around.
Over there's where we put the preachers -- I never liked those clowns.
They're always blaming me for everything wrong under the sun.
It ain't that hard to do what's right, it's just maybe not as much fun.
Then they walk around thinkin' they're better than me and you.
And then they get caught in a motel room, doin' what they said not to do.

"Now all the murderers and the rapists, they go in this fiery lake,
As well as most of the politicians and the cops on the take.
And all the mothers who wait 'til they get to K-Mart to spank their kids;
Instead of showin' 'em what to do what's right, they just hit 'em for what they did.
And all the daddy's who run off and abandon their daughters and sons.
Oh, anybody who hurts a child's gonna burn until it's done."

"Everyone is down here," I said, "who's up in heaven with God and the Son?"
"Oh, some saints and mystics and students of Metaphysics 101.
People who care and share and love and try to do what's right.
Beautiful old souls who read little stories to their babies every night.
What you won't find up in heaven are Christian Coalition right-wing conservatives, country program directors, and Nashville Record executives."

"Now," I said, "I've made some mistakes, but I'm not as bad as those guys.
How can God do this to me?, or can't she sympathize?"
He said, "You're wrong about God being cruel and mean.
Oh, God is the most loving thing that's never been seen."
I said, "Hot Shot, tell me this: which religion is the truest?"
He said, "They're all about the same -- Buddha was not a Christian, but Jesus would've made a good Buddhist."

Well, I thought about my future, I didn't seem to have much of one.
I looked around to leave but there was... no place to run.
I said, "I don't suppose I could go back and try livin' again...
Like reincarnation, I hear that's the way it's always been."
"I can't answer that," he said, "you're gonna have to wait for that response.
But it ain't any more unusual to be born twice than it is to be born once."

Well it looked like I was gonna be stuck here, as far as I could tell.
I thought I might as well suck up, you know, what the hell?
I said, "You know that song that Charlie Daniels did?
About how you went down to Georgia and played fiddle against that kid?"
He said, "Yeah, broke my heart but, you know, what're you gonna do?"
I said, "To be honest, I thought your solo was the better of the two."

Well, then I woke up, and I was lyin' in my bed.
I went upstairs and kissed my little boy on his sleepin' head.
I took this dream as a sign from God, so I thought I'd better pray:
"Don't ever speak to me directly, and thanks anyway."
Now so much has changed about me besides me just givin' up red meat.
Some get spiritual 'cause they see the light,
And some 'cause they feel the heat.

BB King, Nobody love me but my mother.

Nobody loves me, but my mother
And she could be jivin' too

Nobody loves me, but my mother
And she could be jivin' too

Now you see why I act so funny, baby
When you do the things you do

People of the Earth, can you hear me?

Came a voice from the sky on that magical night.

And in the colors of a thousand sunsets

They traveled through the world on a silvery light.

The people of the Earth stood waiting

Watching as the ships came one by one.

Setting fire to the sky as they landed.

Carrying to the world the Children of the Sun.

"Dear Daughter"

Dear Daughter
Hold your head up high
There's a world outside
That's passing by
Dear Daughter
Never lose yourself
Remember that
You're like nobody else

Life throws you in
To the unknown
And you feel like you're
Out there all alone

These are words
That every girl should have a chance to hear
There will be love
There will be pain
There will be hope
There will be fear
And through it all year after year
Stand or fall I will be right here
For you

Dear Daughter
Don't worry about those stupid girls
If they try to bring you down
It's cause they're scared and insecure
Dear Daughter
Don't change for any man
Even if he promises the stars
And takes you by the hand

Life throws you in
To the unknown
And you feel like you're
Out there all alone

These are words
That every girl should have a chance to hear
There will be love
There will be pain
There will be hope
There will be fear
And through it all year after year
Stand or fall I will be right here
For you

Dear daughter
I was just like you
And just like me
You're gonna make it through

These are words
That every girl should have a chance to hear
There will be love
There will be pain
There will be hope
There will be fear
And through it all year after year
Stand or fall I will be right here
And after all I will be right here
For you

"Baddest Blues" lyrics

Beth Hart Lyrics

"Baddest Blues"

My love has come along
My dream's become a song
My days are bright and sunny
Funny why I'm so blue

The man is like a drug
Humiliating and I can't get enough
Love and all it's splendor
Has surrendered it's every blow
Bad is the blues that I know

If this is love
What was I thinking
If this is love
What the hell am I, am I gonna do
And that man has got me sinking
To the bottom of the blue
It's what I choose
Love is the baddest blues

The joy versus the pain
No my joy it ain't the same
So I'll put it plain and simple
Just like front page news
Love is the baddest blues

Love is the baddest blues

If this is love
What was I thinking
If this is love
What the hell am I, am I gonna do
And that man has got me sinking
To the bottom of the blue
Guess that I lose
Love is the baddest blues

"Here's To Us"

We could just go home right now
Or maybe we could stick around
For just one more drink, oh yeah
Get another bottle out
Let's shoot the ****, sit back down
For just one more drink, oh yeah

Here's to us
Here's to love
All the times that we fucked up
Here's to you
Fill the glass
'Cause the last few days have kicked my ass

So let's give 'em hell
Wish everybody well
Here's to us
Here's to us

Stuck it out this far together
Put our dreams through the shredder
Let's toast 'cause things got better
And everything could change like that
And all these years go by so fast
But nothing lasts forever

Here's to us
Here's to love
All the times that we messed up
Here's to you
Fill the glass
'Cause the last few nights have kicked my ass

If they give you hell
Tell 'em go **** themselves
Here's to us
Here's to us

Here's to all that we kissed
And to all that we missed
To the biggest mistakes
That we just wouldn't trade
To us breaking up
Without us breaking down
To whatever's coming our way

Here's to us
Here's to love
All the times that we fucked up
Here's to you
Fill the glass
'Cause the last few days have kicked my ass

So let's give 'em hell
Wish everybody well

Here's to us
Here's to love
All the times that we messed up
Here's to you
Fill the glass
'Cause the last few nights have kicked my ass

If they give you hell
Tell 'em go **** themselves
(Go **** themselves)
Here's to us
(Here's to us)
Here's to us
(Here's to us)

Here's to us
Here's to love
Here's to us
(Wish everybody well)

Here's to us
Here's to love
Here's to us

Here's to us

I'm on the train that's pullin' the sick and twisted
Making the most of the ride before we get arrested
We're all wasted, and we're not goin' home tonight

Covered in black we lack the social graces
Just like an animal we crawl out of our cages
They can't tame us, so if you're one of us, get on the bus!

If you're a freak like me, wave your flag
If you're a freak like me, get off your ass
It's our time now, to let it all hang out
So shout
If you're a freak like me, you were born to burn
This ain't no disease, you don't need a cure
It's our time now, to come out
If you're a freak like me
If you're a freak like me

We're underground, but we will not surrender
We gonna give 'em somethin' to remember, yeah
So write your name in gasoline, and set that sh*t on fire!

If you're a freak like me, wave your flag
If you're a freak like me, get off your ass
It's our time now, to let it all hang out
So shout
If you're a freak like me, don't apologize
They can't hold you down, you were born to rise
It's our time now, to come out
If you're a freak like me
If you're a freak like me
Are you a freak like me?
Are you a freak like me?

If you're a freak like me, wave your flag
If you're a freak like me, get off your ass
It's our time now, to let it all hang out
So shout
If you're a freak like me don't apologize
They can't hold you down, you were born to rise
It's our time now, to come out
If you're a freak like me (if you're a freak)
If you're a freak like me (are you a freak?)
If you're a freak like me (if you're a freak like me)
If you're a freak like me
If you're a freak like me

I was taking a trip out to L.A

Tooling along in my Chevrolet

Tokin' on a number and diggin' on the radio

Just as I crossed the Mississippi line

I heard that highway start to whine

And I knew that left rear tire was about to go

Well the spare was flat and I got uptight

Cause there wasn't a filling station in sight

So I just limped on down the shoulder on the rim

I went as far as I could and when I stopped the car

It was right in front of this little bar

Kind of a redneck looking joint called the Dew Drop Inn

I stuffed my hair up under my hat

And told the bartender that I had a flat

And would he be kind enough to give me change for a one

There was one thing I was sure proud to see

There wasn't a soul in the place except for him and me

He just looked disgusted and pointed toward the telephone

I called up the station down the road a ways

He said he wasn't very busy today

And he could have somebody there in just about 10 minutes or so

He said, "Now, you just stay right where yer at!"

And I didn't bother to tell the durn fool

That I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go

I just ordered up a beer and sat down at the bar

When some guy walked in and said, "Who owns this car

With the peace sign, the mag wheels and the four on the floor?"

Well he looked at me and I damn near died

And I decided that I'd just wait outside

So I laid a dollar on the bar and headed for the door

Just when I thought I'd get out of there with my skin

These 5 big dudes come strolling in

With this one old drunk chick and some fella with green teeth

I was almost to the door when the biggest one

Said, "You tip your hat to this lady, son!"

And when I did, all that hair fell out from underneath

Now the last thing I wanted was to get into a fight

In Jackson Mississippi on a Saturday night

Especially when there was three of them and only one of me

They all started laughing and I felt kinda sick

And I knew I better think of something pretty quick

So I just reached out and kicked old green teeth right in the knee

Now he let out a yell that'd curl your hair

But before he could move I grabbed me a chair

And said "Now watch him Folks cause he's a thoroughly dangerous man!"

"You may not know it but this man's a spy

He's a undercover agent for the FBI

And he's been sent down here to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan!"

He was still bent over holding on to his knee

But everybody else was looking and listening to me

And I laid it on thicker and heavier as I went

I said, "Would you believe this man has gone as far

As tearing Wallace stickers off the bumpers of cars

And he voted for George McGovern for President."

"Well, he's a friend of them long haired, hippy-type, pinko fags!

I bet you he's even got a commie flag

Tacked up on the wall inside of his garage."

"He's a snake in the grass, I tell you guys

He may look dumb but that's just a disguise

He's a mastermind in the ways of espionage"

They all started looking real suspicious at him

And he jumped up and said "Now just wait a minute Jim!

You know he's lying I been living here all of my life!"

"I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch

And I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church

And I ain't even got a garage, you can call home and ask my wife!"

Then he started saying something bout the way I was dressed

But I didn't wait around to hear the rest

I was too busy moving and hoping I didn't run out of luck

When I hit the ground I was making tracks

And they were just taking my car down off the jacks

So I threw the man a twenty and jumped in and fired that mother up

Mario Andretti would be sure been proud

Of the way I was moving when I passed that crowd

Coming out the door and headed toward me at a trot

And I guess I should’ve gone ahead and run

But somehow I just couldn't resist the fun

Of chasing them all just once around the parking lot

Well they headed for their car, but I hit the gas

And spun around and headed them off at the pass

I was slinging gravel and putting a ton of dust in the air

I had them all out there stepping and fetching

Like their heads were on fire and their asses was catching

Then I figured I had better go ahead and split before the cops got there

When I hit the road I was really wheeling

Had gravel flying and rubber squealing

And I didn't slow down till I was almost to Arkansas

I think I'm going to reroute my trip

I wonder if anybody'd think I'd flipped

If I went to L.A., via Omaha

The Eagles:

"Get Over It"

I turn on the tube and what do I see
A whole lotta people cryin' "Don't blame me"
They point their crooked little fingers at everybody else
Spend all their time feelin' sorry for themselves
Victim of this, victim of that
Your momma's too thin and your daddy's too fat

Get over it
Get over it
All this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it

You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if I gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight
You don't want to work, you want to live like a king
But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing

Get over it
Get over it
If you don't want to play, then you might as well split
Get over it, Get over it

It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak
You're makin' the most of your losin' streak
Some call it sick, but I call it weak

You drag it around like a ball and chain
You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain
You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown
Got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down
Bitch about the present and blame it on the past
I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass

Get over it
Get over it
All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it

Get over it
Get over it
It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit
Get over it, get over it

She was sharin' Sharon's outlook on the topic of disease
Mikey had a facial scar and Bobby was a racist
They were all in love dying they were doin' it in Texas
Tommy played piano like a kid out in the rain
Then he lost his leg in Dallas he was dancin' with the train
They were all in love with dying they were drinkin' from a fountian
That is pouring like an avalance coming down the mountian
I don't mind the sun sometimes the images it shows
I can taste you on my lips and smell you in my clothes
Cinnamon and sugary and softly spoken lies
You never know just how you look through other people's eyes
Some will die in hot pursuit and firey auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit while sifting through my ashes

Just because this was so totally out of left court

EXTREME: When I first kissed you.

New york city can be so pretty
]from a bird's eye view
Because up there
Yeah, that's where I first kissed you
A modern day romance
A perfect performance
Acting like two fools
Saying silly things
Whisper sweet nothings
Live young lovers only do
I was shaking
You were breathtaking
Like the empire state
My voice was so far
Not quite Sinatra
Singing songs so great

Brand new day (Ryan Star Lie to Me)

"Brand New Day"

I stayed in one place for too long
Gotta get on the run again
I saw the one thing that I want
Hell bent, get out of bed

I'm throwing rocks at your window
You're tying the bed sheets together
They say that we're dreaming too big
I say this town's too small

Dream
Send me a sign
Turn back the clock
Give me some time
I need to break out
And make a new name
Let's open our eyes
To the brand new day
It's a brand new day

I've taken hits like a brawler
But I'm getting back up again
And from the moment I saw her
I was hell bent with heaven sent

I'm throwing rocks at your window
We're leaving this place together
They say that we're flying too high
Get used to looking up

Dream
Send me a sign
Turn back the clock
Give me some time
I need to break out
And make a new name
Let's open our eyes
To the brand new day
It's a brand new day

It's a brand new day
I know it's a brand new day
Come on to the brand new day
I know it's a brand new day

[2x]
Dream
Send me a sign
Turn back the clock
Give me some time
I need to break out
And make a new name
Let's open our eyes
To the brand new day
It's a brand new day

It's a brand new day

Brand New Day (Sting)

How many of you people out there
Been hurt in some kind of love affair?
And how many times did you swear
That you'd never love again?
How many lonely, sleepless nights?
How many lies, how many fights?
And why would you want to
Put yourself through all of that again?
Love is pain I hear you say
Love has a cruel and bitter way of
Paying you back for all the faith you ever had in your brain
How could it be that what you need the most
Can leave you feeling just like a ghost?
You never want to feel so sad and lost again
One day you could be looking
Through an old book in rainy weather
You see a picture of her smiling at you
When you were still together
You could be walking down the street
And who should you chance to meet
But that
