BIL had a Ford 500 Galaxy XL, and we were filling up at a gas station while it was idling in the Winter.  After a while the attendant came around to his drivers window and said, "Want to turn it off so I can catch up?".  First time I had heard that line and it was really funny cause it was almost true.

In my "car" days.  I was driving past a Pure Oil gas station in the Summer, and it had a Plymouth RR up on the hoist.  Something in the rear badging caught my eye, and I stopped in and chatted with the owner during his oil change.  It was a Plymouth Road Runner with a 426 hemi and 4 wheel disc brakes.

I asked the driver how many tickets he had with it and he laughed.  He said that after the initial drive, it impressed him so much that he didn't even have any urge to run against other muscle cars.  He said he didn't have anything to prove anymore.  And, yes, it was a sweet ride!  I believe that was the first American car I knew of with 4 wheel disc brakes.

Mercury Turnpike Cruiser 57.

I never considered this car "beautiful".  But I did believe that it was the recipient of the most globs of chrome just thrown at a car to see what would stick.

The radio antennas were in the forward upper protrusions over the right and left upper windshield pointing horizontally - forward.  The rear window was powered so it would go down too.  It was looooooong with the Continental Kit.
