What in the name of sweet sister Sadie is that? Looks like a melted camero/firebird.

It is a Camaro styling study. It is made of clay (Not a real car). It looks like it had some influence from a European coachbuilder. Beautiful lines.

I like it. I thought the simpler the Camaros were the better. There's kind of a GTB4 impression in there somewhere.

Wandering around the internet and found this photo of a Pontiac ad. Supposedly that year featured a big V-8 with lots of horses. But... that engine pictured lower left doesn’t look like a V-8 to me. Is it in fact a V-8 or if not what is it?

The 1967 - 1969 Firebirds used this engine as well. There was a standard I-6 engine option and the W53 ‘Sprint’ 250cid engine option. It didn’t gave the HP of the V-8 engine options, but it produced a lot of low and mid-range torque. I’ve driven a couple of Firebird Sprint 4-speeds and they were a lot of fun. The Sprint engines are pretty hard to come by now.

That was the Pontiac "Sprint" overhead cam 6. It was new in 1966 and featured high-compression pistons, a high lift cam, dual valve springs, split/dual exhaust manifold, a hotter coil, and the then new Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. and was rated at 207 hp. Power was increased to 215 hp in 1967. It was basically a chevy engine with a different cylinder head and an overhead cam driven by a fiberglass reinforced toothed belt.

It actullay had more power than the base 326 cubic inch V8 available in the Tempest and the leMans and was lighter weight and got better gas mileage. It was also available in the Firebird.
