Borg warner
When I was in High school my next door neighbors were a young couple and in late 1965 the guy bought a 1966 Ford truck with a camper the same time as my dad. His was blue, ours was white. One time one of his buddy's at the supermarket where he was manager wanted to borrow his truck with the camper for a hot date and my neighbor probably wouldn't have done it except that the friend let my neighbor borrow his !963 Chevy Impala 409-based 427 cubic inch Z11 race prepped lightweight car, one of only 57 made. I was admiring the car when he drove it home and he asked me if I wanted to go for a ride in it and see how fast it would go. He didn't have to ask twice. It was not formally used as a race car and was the plain metallic grey color that it came from the factory and had no numbers or writing on it. the only giveaway was teh cowl induction hood, which sAs aluminum. Here's some specs on those cars: Shipping weight-3245 lbs. Curb weight-3405 lbs. Only 57 Z-11 Impala's were produced The 427 W-series engine was rated at 430 HP 475 FT-LBS @ 6000 RPM. We drove it to a street that was in an industrial area that ended in some railroad tracks and from the first cross street to the dead end at the railroad tracks it was about 300 yards before we had to start slowing down. I seemed like we covered that distance in just a few seconds. The only other car I've ever had a ride in that was that fast was a big block 427 Corvette with Nitrous oxide injection. The Z-11 Impalas would go from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and would turn 10.8 second ET's in the 1/4 mile. 1

Apparently Jeep is the hot property with RAM and Dodge worth keeping but the Chrysler badge itself may go away.
