No love for this little coupe? Did any of you count the number of plugs in that head? Here are a couple of better pics.

That is a flathead Lincoln V-12 in that little 1930 Ford Coupe. I love this car.

If I were going to restore an automobile, it would be an Opel GT.

It was a mediocre sports car, but it was neato.

If I were going to restore an Opel GT I'd put a more powerful engine in it. Like a turbocharged V6 from a Buick Grand Sport with a 4 speed trans.

I think I'd go with one of the new generation of turbo, or turbo-supercharged 4 cylinder engines being produced. They are small, light and producing an impressive amount of power.

If I recall, the Opel GT was pretty much a re-bodied Opel Kadett.

But, Kadettes were very reliable, fuel-efficient basic transportation long before the Japanese came.

If I also recall, only the 1.8 liter models were imported to the US.

Not a hot rod, but they were zippy.

That would work, Just as long as it provided some impressive acceleration.

They are getting some crazy torque numbers out of these new turbo engines and turbo lag is virtually a thing of the past.

In 1972 I owned a yellow 1968 Rallye  Kadett. I raced it in the local Frost across (auto cross) and didn't do well in my class. A Mini Cooper really kicked @$$. tom.
