I prefer the earlier Auburn Boattail Speedster, but this is the one the world remembers best. This is a 1936 851 Boattail Speedster.

This is a 1931 Cord Le Grande Speedster.

The right side of the image below is the front of the car. The Cord was one of the world's first front-wheel drive vehicles. They took an innovative approach to it. The engine is mounted into the car backwards. If you look at the picture of the front of the car above, you will see a bulge in the body, just below the grille. That is the differential. The chrome rod running across the top of the engine, in the picture below, is the shifter rod. It comes out of the middle of the car's dash. To shift, you pull out, push in and twist to the left or the right. The front brakes are inboard-mounted drum brakes. The drums are attached to the differential, on either side.

This is perhaps the most famous Duesenberg of all: The Mormon Meteor. It was a land speed record holder, at one time.

1967 Magic Cruiser and Interceptor

[img2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"191","width":"400","src":"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-9kzy8LnEqH4\/TgpiQuHc4OI\/AAAAAAAAAXQ\/zMosRqYcGW8\/s400\/67+Magic+Cruiser.jpg"}[/img2]

One of the ways FoMoCo promoted its new 1967 full-sized cars was with a couple of show cars christened Magic Cruiser II and XL Interceptor. The Magic Cruiser II built by George Barris was, as Ford described it, a “super fastback†that could be turned into a station wagon when the fastback section of the roof and two special window-side panels were electrically raised. It was possibly built from the original Magic Cruiser shown during 1966.

[img2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"256","width":"320","src":"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-7dRaE4_oHYg\/TgpiEKHYmBI\/AAAAAAAAAXM\/7QIChQbfFjQ\/s320\/67+Interceptor.jpg"}[/img2]

The XL Interceptor had numerous modifications such as magnesium wheels, special tires, textured appliqués on the lower bodysides, floating design taillights, reflector slots in the quarters, a modified grille, and plastic lens covers over the headlights. A 428 resided under the hood of the light blue murano pearl show vehicle. The two unique cars were shown nationally at various events that year such as the Chicago Auto Show.

Maybe not 'best looking'.

But with a 428... :thumbsup:

This is a 1930 Bentley Blue Train Special. This must have been quite the bad boy, in its day. It stell looks pretty mean now, doesn't it?

I really love the 1930s V-12 & V-16 Cadillacs. This one is a 1936 90 degree V-16. The engines in these things look big from the top, but when you get under one on a lift, the oil pan looks like it is about twenty feet long. It is a massive engine. That color is perfect for that body. That is a gorgeous car.

This is a more modern Cadillac V-16 engine, putting out a stately 1,000hp.

All of those bores are quite a sight. Did you see what I did there, with the bores and the sights and the bore sights and the bore site? I hope I'm not boaring you. I wouldn't want to make anyone cranky.:animlol:

I could swear that I saw a late night movie from the 30's or 40's where this was a mysterious speedster in the plot. It would be shown ripping down the road at night threatening the good guys. Can't remember the name of the movie.......
