spurgon
hey, Whats your opinion on this pistol chambered in .40 cal? thx spurgon
blueiron
The .40 cartridge tends to shorten the life of the Hi-Power frame and Browning had to alter their heat treatment of the later frames to compensate for the wear. I would avoid the early production serial numbers and get a second year or later production if you want one in that caliber.

Borg warner
I like the idea of the Hi-power in 40 caliber. It's a little more power in proportion to the size of the gun, Same thing with the Beretta 92. I've always thought the 92 was too large to be a 9mm and to me the Glock 19 or a S&W model 39 is about the right size for a 9mm. But I like the Hi-power in 9mm too, especially with a 15 round mag, Mec-gar makes a 15 round 9mm magazine for the Hi-power and they are very reliable. Here's a link that tells about the investment cast frames. http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/does_my_hi_power_have_a_forged_or cast frame.htm
tigermuskie
I fell into a .40 BHP by accident 20 years ago. A LGS had a return they were letting go for $325. I’m not a .40 fan but do collect BHPs so I bought it. It ended up being my favorite USPSA production class gun when I was still competing regularly. 1
