He replied: "Yeah, Sue and I got the shots, Moderna." Then: "No didn't have Covid. Around the 9th of July, I started the day with double vision. it got worse, and by the end of the day I was at our local ER, couldn't walk straight, left foot kept flapping out to the left. Next morning I was told to go to the VA, ER, because our hospital can't do MRI's but had done CT's and both showed some mass on my brain, which faded out after a week or two. Went to Salem VA , they took me right in and had the MRI within an hour. It did not show a lot, nothing they could be specific about. Admitted. And I can tell you this. Whatever I had, I went into delirium and had some MAJOR - REAL as LIFE movies in my head that nothing either of us have ever smoked or taken could come close to what I was going thru. These lasted almost 2 months, still on the guard for them. Just have to remember they are NOT real.... They took every kind of fluid test possible. I went through the spinal tap, 4 times, It's kind of like having your skin stripped off, and a potato plug pulled out and your fluid drained. A lot of my tests went to Duke University (the hospital I was in, connected to the VA system) and most of the big gun tests went to the Mayo Clinic. Spent a fortune having the wafe there in a motel, and rotating the kids back and forth to home to keep it going.. Figures, had enough saved to fix my Tacoma, had to spend most of that, and may now may never drive again! They went into my DNA searching for tell-tale signs, nothing. Looked at RNA, no signs of any cancers, not a damn thing came up. They are all stumped. No one knows what caused this. They did tag a diagnosis, rhombencephalitis. In other words: We don't know. I lost 51 lbs. All of that was leg muscle. Can't stand, or walk. Got a way's to go just to get to where I can start to do physical therapy or any therapy for that matter. That's the scoop.
