Huaco Kid
It's not food! It's violence! lol (I'd like to see that guy harass a back-woods Gopher, and try to grab the critter he just shot.)
PNWguy
When I lived in Iowa, I was told that the opening weekend of pheasant season was the highest grossing day for sales of beer for the entire year. And yes, they shot each other with alarming frequency for some reason...
janice6
The suburbs found that the number of women in bars and nightclubs spiked on the opening Deer hunting weekend, after the men left town. Odd isn't it...................... 1
Huaco Kid
In Pennsylvania, the opening day for rifle/buck season is always the Monday after Thanksgiving. Many of the school districts still schedule a "holiday" for that day.

The prison stayed open.,
tous
In da UP, one went out to deer camp (most folk had a camp in the forest) for canasta and Kool Aid. Which was a euphemism for poker, maybe some cribbage, and beer. Cribbage was big in da UP. No women were invited or allowed. We didn't ambush deer from a tree stand, we actually stalked them through mostly oak and fir swamps, so your shot was basically at less than 50 yards and you rarely saw a whole deer, only bits between the trees. Deer were field stripped where they died, offal left for the critters with teeth. Oh, and there was no indoor plumbing. The first one awake was responsible for priming the pump, filling the stove and putting the coffee on. Bathroom was about 40 steps out the back door. Some of the best times of my life spent with my father, uncles and cousins. 2
Huaco Kid
I knew a group of guys that would, before deer season, start buying new hunting stuff, sighting their rifles, clean out / repack the freezers and grow their beards. Then they would load up a truck with all their camping stuff, kiss their wives goodbye, and drive straight to the airport and fly to Vegas for a week.
