Its actually pretty messy by this point. There is not much room to make things look nice. Not having access to a proper shop takes also a toll.

When lot prices come back down, I'll buy some land. At least 5 acres. Large, AC'd shop and new house to come. Say hello to welding station, CNC machines, woodworking corner, etc.

Please remember to add new threads for these new tasks.

When 30 year fixed mortgage rates return to the “normal” 6% to 7% range from their present 3% range land prices will probably drop like a rock.

Finally found a roof rack system that spans more than just the widths of the sliding doors. My van didn't come with a rack, and almost all aftermarket system need to be clamped on when the doors are open, which limits the distance between the bars. The solar panel I will be installing covers basically the entire roof, so I need a rack where I can mount the cross bars far apart

For the longest time I thought I'd have to fabricate my own, which would have forced me to buy that expensive welder right away, but tonight I found a solution.

Those tracks come in different lengths, with another version going all the way to the windshield. The entire kit will be over 500 bucks.

Does this mean that you can "find" an outlet anywhere and just "plug in"?

Yes, I now have 3 charging options for the main battery: through the alternator when the engine is running, any 120 v hookup from my garage / RV park / whatever, and the solar panel on the roof. 30 amps, 30 amps, and 50 amps.
