railfancwb
When I was a teen, this was a song with a good beat for slow dancing with the girls. Much later I paid attention to the words. 2

tous
I like Dean Martin's singing, but Tom Jones did the best version of Green, Green Grass of Home.
tous
A bittersweet song, but I like the progression more than the lyrics. I love the Bob Wills Texas swing meter, the horns fit just right and don't feel forced like so many arrangements in pop songs Either way, just a wonderful tune.

I like to sing to my songs. On this particular song his timing and mine don't work as well as Dean Martins. I can sing with Dean better. But they both do it well.
railfancwb
[Ghost] Riders in the Sky has been covered by many singers. Do believe that is Roy Rogers on the far right. Another song which sounds upbeat until you study the lyrics.

He is very good at singing the songs as though he believed or lived them. I think his ability to convey the emotion of the song made for his popularity.
