I am mostly freshwater, Fly 2-3 wt, spin, bait cast; mostly out of a kayak. I do some bay fishing 1-2 times a year. But I mostly just beat the water to a froth.

How do you like fishing out of a kayak? I kayaked for the first this summer and loved it. I crappie fish and was thinking it would be a blast to do it out of kayak. I was looking at a Wilderness Systems model and was hoping to pick one up before next spring.

It is my preferred way to fish, and the WS kayaks are my favorite boats. I have tried several brands over the years. Feel free to ask any questions, but a separate thread might be better.

Been fishing pretty much as long as I can remember.  I was 14 when I got seriously into bass fishing, learned to fish a baitcaster at 16, and fished a lot of local tournaments as a kid until i got married.  Began fly-fishing only about 12 years ago, but got obsessed with it around 9 years ago.  mostly I fish for trout, but I'm planning on a few saltwater trips in the near future.

And now for some fish porn:

We mostly bass fish, largemouth, spots and smallmouth.
Muscle Shoals,Alabama, where I live, is known as the smallmouth capitol of the U.S. The Tennessee River runs right through where I live. We also live in between 2 hydro electric dams. One of which Henry Ford tried to buy as he was planning to build Ford Motor Company here. The Tennessee Valley Authority wouldn't sell it to him so he moved to Detroit.

The older fart with the little fish is me. The other 3 are my son with much nicer bass.7b844708a1e5ae355ab4bd016edfdfe6.jpgf4911959b372a3bea1f915e9e0f907a6.jpgf06176b501a6c1e728730d2f3ff9edba.jpgd0eb39506a882b8ab9f4961605204992.jpg

I'm a Carp fisherman. See those nice bass, in the prior posts? The average carp runs 10 to 20 pounds. Once you learn how to fish for them,

they are a lot of fun to get on the hook. Once you have your fun working them to shore, usually they aren't worth handling, because they

stink worse than skunk, just cut the leader, unless it's a possible record, which in most states exceeds 50 pounds. Bring plenty of extra mono,

because they'll stretch your whole line.

Raystowne Lake, in Pennsylvania, is a good place to fish for Carp, but you'll find them in any large lake or river, if you can get them on the hook.

Catfish eat the same bait, and also bottom feed, so you'll see some decent ones also, with any luck.

Salt inshore/nearshore.  I have a 21' Mako CC and a 13' Boston Whaler.  I've caught a lot of fish and don't have access to many pics now since most are only accessible by a laptop I'm locked out of at the moment.  I love catching jacks, drum, permit and snook.  All make for a hell of a day on light tackle.  I've traveled to Hawaii, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico... some great billfish to be had but I choose to go nearshore for roosterfish, pompano yellowfin and jacks.

My sister used to dress the same way when we went fishing.

Big time fisherman here. I live in Lake County, FL and there are over 1,000 lakes in the county so there is plenty of places to freshwater fish. Our house is next to Lake Harris so I do a fair bit of bass fishing but my favorite is salt water. We typically run over to Homosassa or Cedar Key on the West Coast for flats fishing or offshore fishing. On the East Coast it's the Indian River Lagoon, Sebastian and West Palm. Back in the day we were really into offshore tournaments and ran up and down the East Coast and West Coast of Florida but now we just go out to have fun. Doesn't matter to me what I fish for as long as I am on the water, although I am partial to Reds, Permit, Cobia, Grouper, Tarpon and just about anything else that will bite. :D
